Dear Friends,
The Marr Fund is celebrating Eleven Years!
Once again, I am running in the Maine Marathon Relay on Sunday, October 5, to raise funds for the John and Josephine Marr Alzheimer's Research Fund at the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), in memory of my aunt, Josephine Marr.
This year, my Honan's Heroes Team comprises my sister, Mary, my niece, Nellie, and Dick's daughter, Katie. This year, I will run the first leg of 6.1 miles, handing off to Katie, who will run the long leg of 8.8 miles, followed by Nellie, running 5.8 miles, and Mary, bringing us home running 5.5 miles.

Why do I keep running?
*I run to keep alive the memory of my aunt, Pretty Penie, who battled this disease for over a decade.
*I run to help eradicate  Alzheimer's so other people and their families don't have to suffer the unimaginable toll this devastating disease takes on loved ones.
*I run because the Brigham research team, led by Dr. Reisa Sperling and Dr. Dennis Selkoe, is pioneering innovative approaches to advance the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's.
*I run to raise awareness and money. Over the ten years of running, we have raised 2.85 million dollars through this event itself and catalyzed millions in additional support.
*I run because, 11 years later, it has become an annual event that I look forward to. It is great fun to see family members run a relay or a half or full marathon and then enjoy a celebration of our efforts at my Uncle John's home.
Would you consider supporting my 2025 run - and help us further Alzheimer?s prevention research? It is faster and easier than ever to make a tax-deductible donation to this great cause. Online donations can be made by clicking here, events.brighamandwomens.org, and selecting my name on Team Honan?s Heroes. If you prefer to pay by check, please make it payable to Brigham & Women?s Hospital and include my name in the memo line. The check can be sent to me at

I am fortunate to belong to a dedicated family running for a great cause. Together we can make a difference - now and for future generations. We, along with all of the Honans, Marrs, and our extended family of runners, thank you.

With gratitude,

Ellen
