Valley Girls Run to Eliminate Alzheimer's

Hello Friends and Family-
As we all know, there are many diseases that we desperately wish would be eradicated. These diseases all break hearts in their paths, but one of the most brutal is Alzheimer's. The disease starts somewhat innocently with the worry of getting a little forgetful, but slowly it robs the person of his or her cherished memories; all the while saddening loved ones as the slow decline takes the person from us.
Like many families, my family of Valleys has not been spared from this disease, and we have watched with incredible sadness at the decline of our matriarch. So this year, we are finally able to gather as daughters, wives, sisters, girlfriends and friends to do our part to fight this disease. We will run and walk this relay marathon for those we have lost, those living, and those fearful of getting this disease or passing it on to our children.
Please join us in this fight to eradicate Alzheimer's with a donation of any amount. Look below to see how the Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund has contributed to this cause in the last nine years since its inception. Many thanks to all!
On October 1, the Marr Fund Team will participate in the 2023 Maine Marathon. Participants can run or walk– virtually or in person to support the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Established by the Marr family, the fund directly supports novel and early-stage research aimed at preventing Alzheimer’s disease.
We now know that Alzheimer’s begins 20 years of more before the onset of symptoms. The Marr family – together with world-renowned researchers at the Brigham – are focused on finding a way to stop Alzheimer’s disease altogether. Backed by more than 30 years of research, Dr. Reisa Sperling and her team are pioneering innovative approaches to advance the prevention and treatment of this devasting disease, including world-wide prevention clinical trials.
In nine years, the Marr Fund team has already made a great impact on furthering Alzheimer’s prevention research, most notably raising $1.9 million through the Maine Marathon event and serving as a catalyst for many millions in additional support.
Thank you for joining us in this fight to prevent Alzheimer’s. Together we can make a difference – now and for future generations.
