Join the Fight!
I am running the half in the Maine Marathon on October 1st in honor of my grandmother, Josephine Marr. Unfortunately, we all know someone fighting this disease with more than 6 Million Americans living with Alzheimer's.
I am so appreciative for the support of our runners (80+) and generous donors. Our efforts support Alzheimer's research aimed at preventing this awful disease, with 100% of funds raised directly supporting research.
Marr Fund Accomplishments:
- Helped confirm that the brain changes responsible for Alzheimer’s begin decades before clinical symptoms
- Fueled research that helped design worldwide prevention trials for Alzheimer’s therapies
- Served as a catalyst for securing millions of dollars in federal funding and private philanthropy
- Helped develop a cellular model to understand the different disease drivers in Alzheimer’s to guide development of more personalized therapies
- Supports two innovative prevention projects:
- Exploring the genetic roots of Alzheimer’s to help understand personalized therapeutic options
- Identifying the factors that make some people resilient to Alzheimer’s to inform prevention studies
There has been positive news lately in this field, with the FDA recently approving the first treatments that affect the underlying disease process for Alzheimer's but there is more work to be done. With your help our team hopes cross an exciting Maine Marathon event milestone this year - $2 million raised since 2015.
Thank you for joining us in this fight!
