This is about a chance to make a difference.

In 2013, a beautiful Boston Marathon Monday abruptly turned into a senseless tragedy after two bombs exploded at the finish line. Gillian Reny, a high school senior, was one of 39 critically injured patients rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Trauma teams saved Gillian's life and her legs, and out of gratitude to the Brigham, the Reny family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation to help other trauma patients regain their strength and ability to step strong once again.

In the past 10 years the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation has helped to catalyze trauma innovation for injured civilians and military heroes through multidisciplinary investigative collaborations across the continuum of trauma care, from prevention to treatment and recovery.

  • Trauma is the number one cause of death for people 44 or younger, ahead of cancer and heart disease.
  • Traumatic injuries comprise 40% of visits to emergency departments.
  • Despite the significant burden of trauma, less than 2% of federal funding is allocated toward trauma research, so now, more than ever, Stepping Strong's initiatives are crucial to make a difference for patients and families.
The Boston Marathon is one of the major fundraising initiatives for Stepping Strong, and I am honored to have been selected as part of Stepping Strong's team. 2024 was a challenging year, but WE CAN DO HARD THINGS and we all need hope for the future. You can help make a difference.

By supporting me as a member of the Brigham's Stepping Strong Boston Marathon Team, you are helping the Center turn tragedy into hope for patients and families affected by trauma. EVERY DONATION MATTERS.

Thank you for supporting this extraordinary team. Learn more about the Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation at the Brigham: www.bwhsteppingstrong.org
