Why I'm Fundraising
Hello Friends and Family,
I am so excited and honored to be running the 2026 Boston Marathon as part of the Brigham and Women’s Stepping Strong team.
The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation was founded in the wake of the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy. A senseless act of violence left Gillian, then a high school senior, and many others' lives forever changed. Gillian was rushed to the Brigham and Women's Hospital, where doctors and nurses saved her life and legs. Her survival inspired her family to create a center dedicated to transforming trauma care. Today, Stepping Strong advances research, treatment, recovery, and innovation for civilians and military heroes worldwide.
The Reny family has a special place in my heart. My daughter danced and was roommates with Gillian. When we found out that Gillian had gone through this, I knew if I would ever run the Boston marathon again, I would run for her and what they are working so hard to achieve through their foundation.
Running the Boston Marathon means so much to me. I qualified in 2023 after my Dad had passed away. He was on his motorcycle, in route as a Patriot rider and newly appointed Seawolves President. He was going to a veteran’s funeral he did not know and struck by a semi. My Dad, veterans and military fight and fought for our protection just like the first responders who came to their aid. After my Dad was hit, the few people who saw this stopped to help, but by the time the responders arrived he had passed. This foundation helps train those skills needed that might save a life. They are raising awareness and educating many about the importance and action to save lives before first responders even arrive
The Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma puts on trainings including “Stop the Bleed”, Naloxone Administration and QPR Suicide prevention. I believe knowing a few simple skills can mean the difference between life and death. Joining this team and raising awareness is what motivates me to run for this amazing foundation.
My goal is to reach over $10,000. Every donation, big or small, directly helps improve patient outcomes and brings hope to those rebuilding lives.
Thank you for your support. It means so much to me.
