Two years ago, a four hour clinical shift in the Emergency Department changed the course of my life. It was my first true glimpse into trauma care and I left that day knowing this was where I was meant to be. I later became a tech in that ED, completed my preceptorship there, and this fall, I began my dream job as an ER nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Level I trauma center in Boston.
Trauma and emergency care have shaped the way I see the world and that is why I feel so deeply connected to the mission of the Brigham Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation. Inspired by the story of Gillian Reny, whose life was saved by the Brigham team after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, the Center stands as a symbol of strength and recovery. It supports trauma innovation from prevention to treatment to rehabilitation, funding research, technology, and education that advance the future of trauma care.
Now, I’ve set another huge goal: to run the Boston Marathon. I couldn’t imagine doing it for a cause that means more to me. After seeing firsthand how quickly life can change, I’m running for every patient, every family, and every care team who reminds us what strength really looks like.
I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported me through school, my move to Boston, and now this marathon journey. If you’re able to donate or share my page, it would mean so much to me, to the Brigham, and to every patient and family your support will help.
Love you all !!!
