My Journey: From Heart Attack to the Boston Marathon Finish Line
Ten years ago, I had a heart attack that changed the way I think about life, health, and possibility.
In the weeks that followed, I made a commitment to rebuild my strength and complete all six of the world’s major marathons. I had run the New York Marathon twice more than 30 years earlier, but after my heart attack, running became something deeper. It became a celebration of being alive.
With the support of an incredible medical team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including my cardiologist who is also a runner, I have gone on to complete five marathons: Tokyo, Chicago, London, Sydney, and Berlin.
Boston 2026 will be my sixth. My Six Star finish.
Why This Cause Matters to Me
This is not just about my journey.
When my sister was sixteen, she was in a serious car accident and in a coma for days. There were moments when we did not know what the outcome would be.
The trauma team that treated her saved her life.
That experience has stayed with me ever since. I have seen firsthand what expert trauma care can mean, not just for a patient but for an entire family.
What is The Stepping Strong Center
I am running the Boston Marathon as part of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Stepping Strong Team, supporting the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation.
The Stepping Strong Center is dedicated to improving how we treat and recover from traumatic injury, which is the leading cause of death for people under 44 in the United States.
They fund research, advance care, and help trauma patients rebuild their lives.
My Goal
I am working to raise $11,000.
If you are able to support, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps advance the kind of care that saved my sister’s life and helps others get that same second chance.
Thank You
As I train for Boston, I am running with immense gratitude for my doctors, my family, and the ability to be out there at all.
Thank you for helping me give back to the people and the kind of care that make stories like mine possible
