On Monday, April 20, 2026, I’ll toe the line at the Boston Marathon for the third time, a race that never loses its meaning for me.

Boston isn’t just a marathon; it’s a symbol of strength, perseverance, and community. That’s why I’m proud to once again run in support of the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation, a cause that embodies everything Boston Strong stands for.

The events of 2013 forever changed the Boston Marathon and the lives of so many. One of those lives was Gillian Reny, a high school senior who sustained critical injuries in the bombing. Through extraordinary care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Gillian survived, and went on to regain the use of both of her legs. In response to her remarkable recovery, the Reny family created the Stepping Strong Center to help ensure that others facing traumatic injuries have the same chance at healing.

Today, the Stepping Strong Center is advancing trauma care through groundbreaking research, collaboration, and innovation. By uniting clinicians, scientists, and survivors, the center is improving outcomes for trauma patients from the moment of injury through recovery. With more than $27 million raised, Stepping Strong is driving progress that’s making a real impact, locally and around the world.
