Brittany Powell's Fundraising Page for Stepping Strong

As a resident, I work in the Division of Trauma, Burn, and Surgical Critical Care, and care for injured patients on my trauma rotations. The impetus behind the Stepping Strong Foundation - that life can change in an instant, and that innovations in care can improve recovery time and restore function after tragedy - are realities that I witness everyday in my clinical work.
I am honored to be raising funds to support the extraordinary efforts of the surgeons and researchers that choose this work on a daily basis. Our trauma surgeons are some of the most down-to-earth people, but they can crack your chest and save your life from cardiac tamponade in the time it takes you to read this paragraph. I've seen it! And the opportunity to help them do that better, to innovate in a space that is chronically under-funded in proportion to its burden, and leads to devastating personal work loss, and societal productivity loss -- that's a win for all of us!
On a personal note, I am back in the running game after an ACL injury and surgery, and pregnancy and the birth of my daughter, Cleo. I am feeling stronger than ever, and eager to run my first marathon as a mom.
Thank you for your support - from start to finish!
