Running for the Marr Alzheimer's Research Fund
Hello friends and family!
I am beyond excited to be running the Boston Marathon on April 21, 2025, and to use my platform to continue to spread awareness for the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer's Research Fund this year. After running a qualifying time of 3:14 last June I have been counting down the days to run this race I've been dreaming about since I was a child.
In honor of my great aunt Josephine, I am raising money for the Marr Alzheimer's Fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston, set up to fuel innovative research collaborations aimed at preventing Alzheimer's. I've been involved since the fund began 10 years ago and I'm amazed every year with the progress that has come as a result of the Marr Fund, highlighted below!
Marr Fund Accomplishments
- $5M raised for early stage research
- Helped confirm that the brain changes responsible for Alzheimer's begin decades before clinical symptoms
- Fueled research that helped design worldwide prevention trials for Alzheimer's therapies
- Served as a catalyst for securing millions of dollars in federal funding and private philanthropy
- Helped develop a cellular model to understand the different disease drivers in Alzheimer's to guide development of more personalized therapies
- Supports two innovative prevention projects
- Exploring the genetic roots of Alzheimer's to help understand personalized therapeutic options
- Identifying the factors that make some people resilient to Alzheimer's to inform prevention studies
Thank you so much for considering donating to this incredible cause! Hope to see you along the Boston Marathon course on April 21!
