For The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation, 2024 marks a year of celebration. This spring, we will honor our 10-year anniversary which is a milestone we would not have reached without your generosity and support—from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! We would like to take a moment to acknowledge all you have done for the Stepping Strong Center and for countless other trauma survivors and their loved ones. This year, Gillian’s fiancé, Matt, will be lacing up his shoes on Monday, April 15, to run with 148 Stepping Strong Marathon Team members and cross that iconic finish line in triumph. As you know, the Boston Marathon is our biggest annual fundraiser which enables us to carry out and continue our important work. To date...
- We’ve trained 13 fellows in modern clinical techniques for limb reconstruction, amputee rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
- As a result of Stepping Strong funding, our inaugural Innovator Awardee, Dr. Matthew Carty, has performed the innovative Ewing amputation procedure on 114 limbs globally, revolutionizing the way that those with prosthetic limbs can engage in daily life.
- We’ve trained more than 6,000 people in QPR suicide prevention, Stop the Bleed, and Naloxone training, empowering bystanders to become lifesavers in emergencies.
- We’ve hosted 12 Lunch & Learn sessions to share best practices for injury prevention from experts in various fields.
- The Stepping Strong Center’s research model, which has bestowed more than $7 million in seed grants to research teams that show great promise, has a proven track record, having resulted in federal funding of more than $25 million—or 3.5 times the initial investment—to many research teams, and has led to innovative solutions for patients across the continuum of trauma care from prevention to treatment and recovery.
- Over 1,300 runners have joined Stepping Strong teams to participate in races including the Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association 5K and 10K, the Falmouth Road Race, and additional fitness challenges.
Thank you for supporting us as we drive positive change in trauma care. Your investment in our brilliant trauma researchers and passionate clinicians allows us to continue to develop innovative solutions to problems in trauma care, making a lasting impact here in Boston and around the world.
With love,
Audrey and Steven Reny
