Team Teddy

Although Teddy's time with us was brief, we know that his impact will be lasting and ongoing with the incredible community that was created around him and around our family. As his Hebrew name, Nissim, signifies, he was truly a miracle to us. Teddy will always be remembered for the strength, determination and spirit he demonstrated during his time in the NICU and for the outpouring of love, caring and compassion that those around us showered on us and on Teddy following his birth and after he died. That love and support from our community and those who love us helped us, beyond measure, to feel less alone during such a vulnerable and very scary time. We will honor his life by bravely carrying his memory with us throughout our lives and demonstrating the same strength and spirit he did while he was in the NICU. Please help us support the Small Baby Unit at the BWH NICU by donating here and by sharing Teddy's story with others you know. Please know that by making a donation you are helping other babies just like Teddy, and other families just like ours.
The Small Baby Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides specialized, multidisciplinary care for extremely premature infants—those born as early as 22 weeks or weighing under 1,000 grams. Led by dedicated neonatologists, the unit offers highly individualized, round-the-clock care that includes advanced respiratory support, nutrition, and developmental therapies. Parents are integrated into care from day one, with 24/7 access, support services, and participation in medical rounds and hands-on caregiving. The Small Baby Unit also works to ensure a seamless transition to home, offering follow-up care and developmental support to help each baby not only survive—but thrive.
A gift made in memory of Teddy will further strengthen this critical work by supporting key initiatives within the Small Baby Unit:
- advancing program outcomes research to apply the best evidence-based treatments
- providing seed funding for transformative research projects, such as improved pain management within the Small Baby Unit and NICU
- offering vital emotional health services and wrap-around care to guide families through each step of their journey.
