My Fundraising Page
Dear Family and Friends!
I will be running the B.A.A. 10K to raise funds to support Autism-related Brain Research at Brigham and Women's Hospital. My older brother has autism and it has impacted our family deeply. I am hoping to support research to better understand brain development and bring awareness and acceptance to this condition which impacts so many individuals and families.
At the Center for Brain Mind Medicine, Dr. Susan Mierau, MD/PhD, specializes in autism spectrum disorder research. In the lab, Dr. Mierau's team focuses on understanding how genetic changes in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopment disorders (NDD) affect brain development. Her research looks at brain synapses, the connections between brain cells, and the cellular-scale brain networks that form in early life through these connections. She aims to use network function in human-derived cultures to test new therapeutic strategies for improving brain function.
I am hoping to reach my fundraising goal of $2500. No amount is too small and I am grateful for any support!
If you would like to join my team on the run, I would be thrilled!
I sincerely appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
With gratitude,
Leela
