Aliza's Fundraising
This is from my first BAA 10k in 2016 - first race after Noah was born.
If you're reading this, then you are likely a big fan of my husband, Matt. (Me too!) He was diagnosed in late January with a high grade brain tumor and had it removed in early February. He is currently a patient at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and they work in conjunction with Brigham and Women's Hospital...Matt goes to "the Brigham" every day for his radiation treatments. I was his escort today for the first time and was wowed by the equipment (they will give you a brief tour - Matt will invite you to check it out if you're one of his treatment chaperones) and more importantly - their expertise and kindness. I signed up for the B.A.A. 10k (which I'll have to run fairly quickly, as it's the same day as 'camp drop off' for Noah!) in an attempt to 'do something'. I imagine that we all feel that way. Matt's radiation oncologist let me know that his colleagues have a group of runners who run this race on behalf of the Patient Legacy Fund, which helps patients in their department in a variety of ways. So hopefully my 'doing something' can help his radiation team help Matt and other patients on this journey.
So if you're interested - feel free to donate. This may not be my only ask (haha) - I am strongly considering running my 3rd marathon, the Boston Marathon in 2026, on the Dana Farber team depending on Matt's health and if I can get a spot. I imagine they might like old lady, slow-ish runners on their team but maybe not. ;-)
