SJPHC Fundraising Page
All my life I have always had a goal to be able to run at least 1 mile. Who would have ever thought I would have done a 10K. This will be my 4th year and hoping my body is stronger than last. Over the past few years, we all have gone through tough times with the pandemic, and it made me realize I need to take care of self in order to take care of others. Running has not been my favorite past time but to compare myself where I was a few years ago to where I am now and how much stronger I am mentally and physically; I push myself to know that I can do this!!
Who am I supporting you may ask?
SJPHC is one of Brigham and Women's Hospital's two licensed community health centers and part of a network of health centers in Boston reaching underserved populations. SJPHC provides high quality care services to 12,000 economically and racially diverse residents of Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, Roslindale, and other communities in Boston and eastern Massachusetts. The Health Promotion Center (HPC), adjacent to the health center, has been part of SJPHC since 2010, and provides a dynamic space to co-create programming with patients and community partners that centers health equity and racial justice. HPC staff take an approach to health care and health education programming that seeks to address the impact that racism (a system of advantage based on race, Wellman) has on the social determinants of health, to improve health outcomes in the community.
We run for our patients, we run for racial justice, we run for health equity.
Thank you for supporting this extraordinary group of runners.
